Jewish Riga Tour.
Riga would not be as it is without the great contribution of its Jewish population throughout centuries. Many of them were merchants and financiers, lawyers and architects, pastors and teachers so they all devoted their lives to the development of the city.
As a result of Nazi occupation from 1941-1944, ninety percent of the Jewish population of Latvia perished but memories are still there….
During the tour, you will learn about the history of Jews in Latvia from the 16th century to the present.
We will visit the only surviving synagogue in Riga, and have a moment of contemplation at the memorial of the saviors of Jews and the burnt-down synagogue, we will also ride through the former ghetto territory to the Old Jewish Cemetery.
Jewish Riga Tour will not only educate about this tragedy of the recent past but also point out stories about people that played a huge role in hiding and eventually saving people from sure death.
